What’s the story behind this photo? This is my three-year-old holding her Doc McStuffin lunch box all set to go to Play School. (Photo taken this morning)
Today is T’s first day at play school. This is actually our second try. When she was about two plus, she already started going until a boy pushed her. It was nothing really. Just a small incident and something I know that happens a lot in play school and to all children. But since then, she absolutely refused to go. Now that she’s three, she’s suddenly one of the “older kids”, so we’re trying again. We stopped by her best friend’s house who lives near the play school, and they walked inside together.
It’s really not like it’s her first time. She knows and is friends with some of the kids there and is also familiar with the staff who are all lovely. As expected, she cried when I left. But no sooner had I left, the one in charge came out and said that T stopped crying! Before I left one of the mom’s said to me “Don’t worry, they are all experts in distraction here” and true enough, T was distracted.
I’m wondering now what to do. Shall I go back to bed especially since I woke up at three a.m. and couldn’t go back to sleep? Maybe, I should catch up with my emails? But you know what I really want to do? Stare at empty space in silence. So excuse me while I just do that … I miss her though. I know … silly me.
