Where has the sunshine gone?

The sun has gone, temporarily I hope –  instead we’ve been having grey clouds and rain.  Then again, what am I saying?  This won’t be England without the grey and rain, especially on a bank holiday weekend.  It always rains.

However, that doesn’t mean that you can’t go on the beach in this weather!  Just make sure you have a place to shelter once the rain starts pouring.

This is Crooklets beach in Bude.  It’s not as lovely as the other beaches here in Cornwall, but what I like about this place is that it has a playground near the beach and an American-style diner called… Rosie’s Kitchen and another place that serves delicious but-a-bit-pricey soup that tastes a bit like the traditional Scottish soup, Cullen Skink.

Crooklets also has rock-pools the kids can explore, as seen above: Little T and F with their buckets and spade.

And of course, they made sandcastles, or what looked more like two towers.

His and hers.

Oh I do like to be beside the seaside… even in the grey.

What’s the weather like on your side of the world?

Love that the bad weather didn’t stop play!! #countrykids

    • You know how kids are … it doesn’t matter whether it’s raining or not! 😉

A beach with a bit of everything. Sounds good to me. Not too crowded when the weather is overcast, either. Love the photo of your little one, walking away, with her thumb up. Kind of saying its fine. I’ve finished. Sweet! #CountryKids

    • Do you know, I didn’t even notice her thumb till you pointed it out! 🙂 Yes, Crooklets is certainly that.

Haha same here. Gloomy, raining non stop and well we are going out too. Somehow the weather gave my son an excuse to jump up & down in puddles =P #CountryKids

Beaches are great, even when the weather isn’t too good, especially if there are rock pools to explore and sandcastles to build 🙂

We love the beach, though go very rarely as we live a long way from any. I think we’ll have to do some rock-pooling next time we go 🙂

Okay, I don’t understand going to the beach in pants and long sleeves… I know that people on our East coast do that too – but I don’t get the attraction to water when it’s that cold!
This weekend we were on the lake, it was great! 🙂 All I needed was my swimsuit and the life jacket for water time!

I’m kind of envious of your grey skies because we have a little too much sunshine where I live! Looks like you had a wonderful time 🙂

    • We definitely did! I’d trade the grey skies with your sunshine anytime 😉
