All About Birthday Parties

This week little T actually attended two birthday parties and they were both after school, which means we have one exhausted but happy little girl.

She’s also been talking a lot about her birthday next month.  She wakes up everyday and announces “I wish it were my birthday today!”  She’s that excited.  What makes it even more special this year is that, she’s planning to hold her birthday party together with one of her best friends from school, a little girl who was born six days before her.  Yes, there’s been loads of talks about what kind of party she and her friend would like to have.

1. A Book Theme Party

We thought that since she and her best friend both loves books, it would be nice to have like a World Book day where their friends could come dressed as their favourite character from a book they enjoy reading.  T says she wants to dress up as Ada Goth from the book Goth Girl by Chris Riddell.  I’m so glad she changed her mind because I was silently wondering where on earth would I get a purple cape?

2. A Pool Party

Then we though that since we have all the space in the garden, it would be nice to have a pool bbq party.  The problem is, we only have one big paddling pool and T and her best friend have loads of friends to invite.  Now we’re thinking of doing it at the place where the girls have their swimming lessons.  We do have to finalise it soon though, before the place gets fully booked.

I have a feeling we’ll be talking a lot about birthday parties until it is finally THE day.  Sigh.

Our word of the week is : parties.

Do you know any other birthday party themes we could do for two little girls?

Do share.

A pool party sounds great! It’s different and will be lots of fun, plus the kiddies can use up all that energy! I think they will all have ever a great time!

    • At the moment, we’re leaning towards the pool party idea 🙂

    • Planning can be fun, but not when your little one keeps changing their minds!

      • T and her friend have to decide soon, especially if we’re doing the pool party. But they both keep changing their minds!

  2. The Reading Residence

They both sound fun ideas! My daughter had a magician for her 6th, also with a classmate. She’d been talking about a movie party for her 7th, but she’s now decided to forget the party idea and go away for the weekend instead – phew! Hope you manage to settle on something soon x Thanks for sharing with #WotW

    • Would love to just do a movie party. Take the kids out and maybe eat out too, but I think T and her friend W are both set on the pool party.

    • Looks like the pool party is popular among the kids nowadays 🙂

  3. Whatever theme you pick will turn out fine. Kids just want to get together and play with the other kids.

  4. Newcastle Family Life

It is my little boy’s birthday next month too, I honestly do not know what we will do for it as he is only going to be 2 so doesn’t really have friends or realise xx

    • We didn’t have a party for T when she turned one, but had a small one for her when she turned two. Invited some of the kids from her toddler group 🙂

  5. MotherofTeenagers

My approach for parties when my children were younger was always something that involved an activity to keep them all entertained and busy. Swimming and trampolining were always fail safe options. Good luck with it all. #wordoftheweek

    • Thanks. Looks like the pool party is winning at the moment. Unless the girls change their minds again.

    • We’re thinking of doing it in the place where T has her swimming lessons (it’s an indoor pool 🙂

I love the idea of a book themed party. I’ve never organised a kids party so I’m not much help, sorry.

    • No worries. Looks like the pool party is winning at the moment.

  7. Tooting Mama

Ooooh we did a pool party – great fun, kids really enjoyed splashing about. I think we hosted 17 kids, one paddling pool (not that big) had a few other actives on had for other kids to enjoy….what ever you do it will be awesome! Have lots of fun!!!

    • It would be great to host it in our garden since we have a sizeable one. The problem is, we can never trust the British weather! 😉

  8. Fashion and Style Police

I love planning parties for the kids. So exciting.

  9. Lyndsey O'Halloran

Erin hasn’t had a birthday yet but I am really looking forward to planning them for her. I like the idea of a book themed party!

    • We didn’t hold a birthday party when T turned one. It was just me, her and her dad. I just baked a cake and we got her one of those 3 in 1 trikes and took her for a ride out in our little village. She absolutely loved it 🙂

  10. Fi Ni Neachtain

The book themed idea sounds lovely but I’m sure all the kids would probably prefer the pool party. I know I never wanted to get out of the water as a child 🙂

    • If the weather holds, might do it in the garden. If it looks bad, hopefully the indoor pool where little T goes to for swim class will still be available 🙂

  11. Ickle Pickle

How exciting! Pickle is four in October and his best friend in school was born on the same day, so we are already having daily discussions about ‘the party!” Good Luck! Kaz x

    • Looks like both girls are leaning towards the pool party at the moment. The build-a-bear one sounds fun too!

    • It’s even more special this year because she’s going to share it with a close friend 🙂

    • Little T’s swimming instructor will be there and at least one parent should be there with their child. Like you, I’m paranoid 🙂 x

  13. I guess anything in cinemas at the moment that she is loving would go down a treat. On trend and still have fun

  14. Kerry Norris

A sleepover party, garden tea party, teddy bears picnic party. The list is endless. Wish my girls had birthdays in summer months as its always difficult finding things for parties in winter months x

  15. I love the idea of a book party! It sounds like so much fun. Have you been on Pinterest (although this comes with caution because Pinterest is so addictive). They have some incredible party ideas on there. x

    • I haven’t. And that’s precisely why I haven’t really looked… I might end up “camping out” on Pinterest 😉

  16. Zena's Suitcase

Birthday parties are such a big thing aren’t they. My daughter is already planning hers and it’s not until March next year

    • T is the same. She likes to plan her birthday party well in advance. Kids are funny, aren’t they? 🙂

  17. Ella Ivoire

“I wish it was my birthday!” that’s literally me every single day a week before my birthday so I get your little girl!
