The List

School check list

I can’t believe the summer holidays will be over by Monday – T goes back to school as a Year 2 student.  How did that happen?  It seems like only yesterday she was a weepy little girl in reception and now she’s one of the “older kids”.

For the past couple of weeks or so, I’ve been ticking off my list of things to buy for T.  Thank goodness last year’s uniforms (most of them) still fit her since I always get a size bigger. I did buy her some new tops though, they always get really stained at the end of term.  I do envy those schools who have coloured tops instead of the classic white, at least the paint and ink stains won’t show so much.  Now if only they changed their tops to blue!  I wonder if parents can request that?

My word of the week is: List

The truth is, believe it or not, I’m not ready for T to go back to school just yet.  I want her to have another week or so with us.  She seems a bit indifferent about going back to school, neither excited nor disappointed that she’s going on Monday.

Now that school begins next week, in spite wanting more time with T, I’m actually read to hunker down for autumn, although if we were granted more lovely sunshiny weather of course, I’d still prefer that.

What about you?

Are you looking forward to your kids going back to school?

Are you ready for summer to end?

    • How exciting! 😉 She’ll be fine. Brace yourself for a few tears, but she’ll be fine in a week or so 🙂

    • Oh how lucky that they don’t go back till later next week. Wish I had more time with my little girl too. x

  1. Ahh! I don’t want my girls to go back to school either. Summer has gone to quickly….I could do with another couple of weeks.
Good luck for the start of school. I hope your girl settles into year 2 well x

    • Same here. I haven’t bought T any new uniform this term, since they all still fit her. Like you, I might have to replace them mid-year 🙂

  2. I’m sure she will love it when she finally goes back, and give you lots more free time! I do think that schools should have coloured uniform in green red or blue tops as you said it helps to hide stains better 😉 xxx

  3. Lists are my favourite! haha! And I am sure if a couple of parents put forward a request to change the tops, they might just do it. you never know!

my little one just started pre nursery! We had the settling in bit this week! he officially starts on Monday and I can’t wait! I have no family whatsoever here in the UK. so its just us three and I can do with some off time now! haha! Thankfully my son has settled in well so hopefully I can spend my time roaming around Camden town and breaking into a bank or something for all the free time shopping thats going to come!

    • Same here. We don’t have family nearby. So glad your little one is settled in Nursery and good luck on Monday. Every time I hear Camden I think of Amy Winehouse 😉

    • I know what you mean. Since we live in a tourist area, it also gets a bit quieter when the kids go back to school, though the big tourist buses still abound 😉

  4. Oh I prefer the plain white shirts, at least you can bleach them! My eldest goes back on Monday but as my youngest is starting at a Special Needs school he doesn’t go back for another two weeks. I’ve still got more stuff to buy, as he’s at a SEN school he needs so much more specialist equipment

    • I never thought of bleaching, but might try! Thanks for the top. Hope your youngest settles in his new school 🙂 x

Lists are a mums best friend, so satisfying ticking all the back to school stuff off and getting prepared. I hope her first day back goes well. #WotW

Oh I love a good list! Mine went back to school on 1st Sept, no messing! I was so glad, I must admit! We are all desperately craving the routine that school life brings, along with getting them back to all their sports clubs to burn off some of the summer energy! #WotW

    • That’s just it, I do love white tops. I find keeping them white a bit difficult 😉
