This week has all been about finally feeling really settled. As mentioned on the previous post, only the boot room and conservatory has yet to be tackled, though it might take a while especially the conservatory, since we need new furniture and at the moment, our bank account just needs a little bit of respite from all that spending!
I also have yet to organise my nook, my little space in the house (as seen above). We were supposed to share the study, but it’s too small to have two desks in. My husband has loads of history books he needs for work, to share his study, would mean having to get rid of one book shelf and as it is, they are already fully-loaded. Besides, he talks to his students on the phone all the time, I don’t think I’d be able to organise my thoughts with him giving a lecture on Peace, War and Modernity in the background, or any of the other courses he teaches for the OU.
The husband’s study.
Instead, I decided to claim a corner in our huge bedroom especially since we have so much spare space in it. But as you’d expect from a 400-year-old house, it has tricky spaces and corners. My husband has to do a bit of tinkering for my bureau to fit in. But like I keep mentioning, he doesn’t have the time to do that just now. At the moment, my desk is just sitting at an awkward position, barely even inside the corner. I can’t arrange my books on it yet, or put anything on the wall, so my desk is terribly cluttered. Good thing it’s a bureau and I can just shut the mess out of sight.
Have you ever moved homes?
How long did it take for you to feel settled?
