A Country Kid’s Post: An Afternoon in Paignton

Summer feels like it happened ages ago and yet every now and then we still get to experience a warm day, reminding us that in reality, it might actually still be hanging around.

We had a good one, even though this year, we stayed put and didn’t go abroad.  I was looking through my photos and was reminded that I haven’t written about the lovely afternoon spent on the beach in Paignton.

We arrived late afternoon.  I think it was way past five and nearer six.  But the air was still warm in spite the breeze, comfortable enough to have a little play on the sand without feeling chilly and that’s what exactly little T did.

I love beach huts.  Love the idea of having a little beach-hole where you can just retreat to, whether it’s to have a cup of tea or just somewhere to go to escape or at least know that your belongings are safe from the water and sand.

Don’t you just love the look of them too?

And while T was happy playing, I was just snapping away – whatever caught my eye, even the pesky seagulls looked beautiful against the lovely blueness of the sea and sky.

And then I saw the steam-train from afar …

and a lone sail boat out in the sea.

After awhile it was time to go … Has summer really gone?  Perhaps we’ll be lucky enough to experience an Indian summer this year.

Would you like that?

I’ve never been to Paignton but I have been on the train that goes along the coast! I have some family who live in Teignmouth and although I haven’t been for years, remember how beautiful the whole area is. Although you can’t beat a good holiday in a warmer place, I sometimes think we forget just how beautiful our country is, so why not spend a few summers enjoying it, eh?!

That seems like such a sweet little trip! Whitby is my favourite beach by far, I could pretty much live there, and I’m always envious of those who have the foresight to book a beach hut when the rain starts!

I love cute little beach huts. One of the best things about living on the coast

    • Definitely! And yes, I’m the same, every time I see a beach hut open, I do look, although I try to not to be conspicuous 😉

  7. Wow! I have no words the scenery is beautiful! I’m so jealous you get to go to these amazing places. Even though it doesn’t look like the traditional beaches but is still a stunning place to go. I bet it’s cold since is summer is over 🙁

  8. My grandma used to go here every year for her holiday and whilst she is no longer with us, it is somewhere I want to visit to see what she found so fascinating x

Sounds like the perfect way to end the day. Haven’t been to Paignton in years but remember it being lovely #CountryKids

    • Definitely. When the weather is lovely, the beaches here in the UK can rival any beaches in the world 😉

A nice time to go. After all the crowds and a tad cooler. My grandmother used to hire a beach hut each summer, when I has very little. I do remember how nice it was to escape the sea breeze and dry off after a swim. #CountryKids

It really does look like you had a wonderful time exploring the seaside in Paignton, it’s a lovely place to explore. The beach huts really do look lovely, it’s a shame that there’s not that many beach huts on the north coast of Cornwall! It’s great to see Little T thoroughly enjoying a little play in the sand, sometimes whilst on holiday there’s nothing better than a little down time like this!

Thanks for linking up with me on #CountryKids.

What gorgeous photos! I am quite relieved that the hot weather of last week seems to have eased off. I am definitely ready for Autumn now, though posts like this bring back so many memories of a wonderful summer! #countrykids

    • Thank you. I think I’m ready for autumn too especially since we’ve been enjoying the fires lately 😉

Paignton looks so pretty, and I love the paler pastal colours on the beach huts. And I think this summer’s been great for getting out and about and I see your T is enjoying digging in the sand, although I think I’m ready for Autumn now, too!
