Wild Flowers: Bringing the Outdoors In

I’ve always loved wildflowers even as a child.  I guess you could say I inherited it from my mother, who in turn got it from her mum.  There was always freshly picked flowers from the garden.  And I loved that.

As an adult, I’ve had that desire too, to be always surrounded by flowers, especially the ones that grow in the wild, I like to take them in with me…

I like looking around inside our house and seeing them there.  As the great French impressionist once said …

I must have flowers, always and always – Monet

And I so agree with him, always and always.  Now excuse me while I pick more flowers from our garden.

What about you?

Do you like wildflowers too?

Do share.

The flowers look lovely. We never have flowers in our house (or garden) because I’m absolutely useless at looking after them.

    • Thanks. I don’t really have a green thumb either (it’s my husband who does). But I like always having them around me.

    • Try it! It’s lovely to see them indoors too 🙂 Of course I only pick the ones in our very own garden.

I adore flowers. My house is always full of flowers as it makes it smell and look nice. My cousin is also a florist and she has the most beautiful bouquets and arrangements but wild flowers are more rustic!

    • I love wild flowers inside the house precisely because of that reason – they give a more rustic feel! Although admittedly, I also buy bouquets when out shopping.

I’m not much of a flower person, mostly because I forget about them and they die too quick as a result but they are beautiful and I love how you have them sitting on your book shelf. It’s a perfect picture that could be used in a calendar:)

  4. I love seeing flowers too but like some of your readers, I don’t have a green thumb! My mom and sister do though. Love your pics too!

    • Thank you. I don’t either. It’s my husband who does. I’m known to over-water plants in the past 🙁

    • I can imagine how difficult it must be to have flowers with a toddler. Thankfully T is old enough to know not touch mummy’s flowers. x

    • I love them too. In our old house where we only had a postage-stamp sized garden, we didn’t have any wild flowers growing there. But this garden has, and it’s one of the reasons why I love this house 🙂

    • Definitely! Plus, I only pick those in my garden. Would never think of picking them elsewhere.

My 3 year old adores wildflowers, every time we pass some she has to stop and collect some. xx

    • Same with T. I love how their first thought is to give it to us 🙂

I actually think wildflowers are prettier than others. There’s a lady at a local market by us that sells them in the most beautiful bunches. They always look very vintage and rustic x

    • If only someone here also sold them. But so far, haven’t seen any. And that’s precisely why I love them. I kinda like the vintage, rustic feel 😉 x

  9. There’s something even more special about picking the flowers yourself. How fresh and pure. It has that feeling of no technology and back to the olden ages, if that makes sense? 🙂 Beautiful x

  10. I love all flowers. But picking flowers yourself is always much better.

  11. The longer I live in London, the more I appreciate things like wild flowers! It must be so nice to be able to just go outside and pick them!
