There's a dinosaur on the bed!

Little T is a typical girl who loves anything pink.  She loves shoes, new clothes, accessories, and pink hand bags.  One would automatically think that she would also love princesses and play dress-up with the other little girls at play-school.  No, not little T.  Instead you’ll find her outside with the little boys, racing around in their bikes, the only difference is her bike and helmet is pink, with tassels and a Hello Kitty horn.  She also likes running around like a little monster with the boys and shooting the baddies and playing dead on the concrete floor.  Yes, she’s definitely one of the boys.

Her new discovered love are dinosaurs.  She absolutely adores them.  In fact, she adores them so much that she loves to bathe with them.  So we’ve said our goodbyes to her collection of rubber duckies and Octonaut toys and hello to every dinosaur of its kind, big and small.

Others like to swim with dolphins, little T prefers swimming with dinosaurs.

Here’s little T with her favourite dinosaur – a Brachiosaurus, which she sometimes calls her sweetheart or Brachy, as she lovingly calls him.  She used to take Brachy with her to play-school.  But lately she’s been tucking him in on her bed before she leaves for play school.

Yes, she actually likes to sleep with Brachy beside her too.  When she’s fast asleep, I take him off her bed and put it on the floor.  One time she woke up asked Why is Brachy on the floor?  I shrugged my shoulders and told her, maybe she moved too much at night and so he decided that he’d rather sleep on the floor than be kicked around.   She seemed to have accepted that explanation.

Does your little one sleeps/bathes with dinosaurs too?

so sweet! I love the cute names she gives them. Brachy is so cool! my son loves to bather with elmo and only elmo as well. #whatsthestory

    • I know! Don’t you just love their imagination and creativity? If only grown-ups were the same! Haha. Thanks! Aww… Love Elmo too 🙂

  2. Kate @ Did That Just Happen?

she tucks him into her bed when she leaves!! That’s greatness!! Mr. T never went through a phase like that, that I can recall, but just a few years ago we went through a wrestling phase, and it was World Wrestling Mania all of the time at our house!! We were talking about that just yesterday, how that was one of the longest and most expensive phases he ever went through! I still know more about professional wrestlers than I want – and let me tell you – that’s not easy to show off in a normal conversation! : )

    • Hahaha. That’s funny! Unless of course you’re stuck in a group who loves wrestling too 😉 I on the other hand have to brush up… oh what am I saying? I never ever knew much about dinosaurs! So because of little T, I’m having to read up on them. She knows way more than I do when it comes to dinosaurs!

My oldest was quite obsessed with dinosaurs for awhile! I love that she takes them into the bath, we have one or two in our bath toys box 🙂

    • It’s nice to know that little T isn’t the only one who “swims” with dinosaurs 😉

A lovely look at sleeping with dinosaurs, I love the way a child’s mind works.

Oh, this is sweet! Like seeing him in the bed, too. My kids have cuddly toys that they have to sleep with and sometimes take out with us, but the dinosaur obsession has yet to hit our household, though there’s still time!

How brilliant Dean, what a great post. I love that second photo of T with all the dinosaurs in the bath and the one of Brachy tucked up in bed. Excellent! POD loves dinosaurs too but we don’t have any yet (give it time!). Lovely post, thank you so much for sharing #whatsthestory

    • Thanks Charly! I’m sure the dinosaurs will also invade POD’s room soon 😉

Does she love Andy’s dinosaur adventures too? F is getting into that. I would love him to start liking dinosaurs more – anything to be rid of cars! I also have to pick them out of his bed at night as he insists on sleeping with them all 🙂

    • Yes, but not as much as she loves Topsy and Tim 😉 Sigh. Perhaps, you can buy him a dinosaur and see if his obsession will change, though I think cars are safer to sleep with than dinosaurs with their long necks and sharp bits! I constantly have to check her bed when she’s asleep just to make sure she won’t get poked!

      • hurrahforgin

ha ha T&T argh! I go in after F is asleep and get all the cars out as they are spiky and sharp and he sometimes cries when he rolls on one. Will invest in a dino!

  8. Now I’m hoping Nico will eventually get into dinosaurs too. It looks like so much fun.

    • At three she knows a lot of their names already, more than I do. They are such fun indeed until you step on them or trip over them! 😉

  9. My LittleMiss despite being so girly also loves anything her big brother plays with, that one night she slept with bey blades and skylanders beside her.

  10. Notmyyearoff

I think she and my little z would make great friends. He is going through a big dinosaur loving phase right now.

    • Yes, I’m sure! She also has a sticker dinosaur book. But we can’t seem to find a book about dinosaur’s that’s age appropriate. Do you know of any?

  11. How sweet! None of my children sleep with dinosaurs. I have just seen a previous comment about books. We have quite a few books with dinosaurs. Our baby loves ‘That’s not my dinosaur’, 3 1/2 yr old’s favourite is ‘Dinosaurs love underpants’ (check my play dough post for a fun activity around that one) and my oldest (5 1/2)has a very informative mini encyclopaedia about them. Mel

    • Dinosaur love underpants sounds like a fun book! Thanks for recommending it, will hunt it down 🙂
