The Beast Returns! (A Delayed Post)

Well, they called it the mini-beast-from-the-East.  While it wasn’t as bad as the first one, we still had a lot of snow – pretty snow, everywhere you looked it was covered in white.  It gave the light a weird, eerie but beautiful and unusual glow.  Sometimes, it looked more like silver and not white.  T loved it of course, by Monday though we (not my little girl) were all a bit fed up with this winter wonderland and wanted it to be Spring.

When you’re little though, snow is still fun and magical, especially when it happens so rarely in the place where you live.  As I’ve mentioned in the past, it never really snows here in Cornwall, we usually get blasted by heavy wind, not blizzards, so when it happens, it’s the kids who really enjoy it, not the adults, although admittedly, we did have some fun too, even Doc did!

Snow fights, making snow angels, sledding, or just trying to slide down a snowy hill, is so much fun, if you’re a little child like T, especially if your school announces a free day, what’s not to like?

On the third snowy day though, we were just a little bit fed up with it.  I’m wondering how people manage in colder countries where snow is but the norm?  I guess, you do just get used to it – as for the rest of us, we’re really not equipped for snow, when it happens, everything slows down just a bit which to be fair isn’t really a bad thing.  But really, snow in March? I pity the daffodils that were squashed by the snow, I think they were a bit confused too.  Who wasn’t?

Even Doc seemed fed up with snow too.  Thank goodness, it’s all gone now.  Spring I think is finally here.

Incidentally, apologies if you’ve been trying to access this little space of mine. I’ve been offline for a few days due to problems with my domain.  But all is sorted now thanks to good friends of ours who happen to be web developers.  If not for them, I’d be thinking of quitting blogging so if you guys are in need of a good team you can trust, do check them out here.  I owe them big time.

  1. Oh these pictures are stunning. I love the snow there is something a little magical about it. Although let me clarify that I love the snow in the Winter!! #countrykids

    • Same here. It would’ve been perfect if only it happened in December! 🙂 Thank you 🙂

  2. Stephanie

We loved the snow…..for a couple of days!!! Then but makes everything hard work doesn’t it.

    • Same here. Yes, especially when both daughter and our dog would come in the house with snowy boots!

  3. Kids of the Wild

Crazy snow this year eh?! My sisters are in Perranporth and couldn’t believe the snow. Lovely pics in this post #CountryKids

    • Thank you. Indeed. Normally for us to experience snow we’d have to hop on a plane or drive up to the moors just to see it. This time it was just in our garden 🙂

  4. fashionandstylepolice

The snow pictures are beautiful. Kids love it so much. I hope we don’t get any more snow this weekend as rumoured.

    • I know. I heard that too. I doubt somehow that we’ll get it again here in Cornwall.

  5. I didn’t believe them when they said the Beast from the East would be returning but boy did it return! Quite happy to see the back of the snow now…

    • Strange weather we’ve been having, although the kids did love it 🙂

  6. It really has been a mad few weeks with the weather! I’m hoping everything has calmed down now and the beast doesn’t return!

    • Same here. We’re still waiting for Spring to come and it’s the end of March already.

  7. Deborah Nicholas

Im so done with the snow now and just want a little sunshine – it makes everything seem so much better!

    • I so agree. Woke up to a dreary day, but the sun did come out eventually. Hoping for more sunshiny days 🙂

  8. I missed most of our snow the second time, the kids were all home enjoying it but Nick and I were at a funeral up north. It sounds and looks like there was nearly as much snow as a few weeks earlier, I’m like you, it was great fun for a while, but now I am ready for spring. It won’t stop me being excited to see snow again next winter though.

Thank you for sharing your lovely snowy photos on #CountryKids

    • Yes, indeed. Almost as thick as the first time, although the road in front of our house wasn’t covered in snow this time. T wasn’t able to do some sledding unlike the first snow visit. Hopefully, they’ll be a next time… But not anytime soon… in the winter months!

T and Doc look like they were having fun in the snow. I do love the way it transforms everything and makes it look magical. It has been fun in some ways to have some proper snow this year, although I’m with you in feeling that we’ve had quite enough for one winter and being very ready for some warmer spring weather 🙂 #countrykids

    • Definitely looking forward to Spring…. The snow can come back in the Winter months 😉

  11. Kara Guppy

Doc doesn’t look too impressed at having snow on his nose. Have to admit we did make the most of the revisit

    • Same here. Just wish the snow would come in Winter and not Spring! 😉

  12. Holly - Little Pickle's Mom

Ah, you’ve captured the snow beautifully here! But I TOTALLY get what you mean about wanting it to be Spring already. Can’t believe we’re in for another cold snap this weekend. ROLL ON THE SUNSHINE. (And so glad you’re back up and running again!)

    • Thank you. Yes, I heard about that cold snap. Hope you get guys get some sunshine too!
