Happy Women’s Day

Since it is Women’s Day, allow me to introduce to you a great Filipino woman.  Her name was Gabriella Silang, born in 1731 in Canlogan Philippines.  She helped her husband, Diego Silang, raise an army to fight against the Spanish rule.  When he was captured and killed by the Spanish, his wife did not even stop to mourn his death. Instead, she raised hundreds of men and fought alongside them.  In the end, she was captured and like her husband, was hanged in a public plaza.  Today, she is recognized in my country as one of our heroes.

Do you have a favourite female hero?
