Small Joys in Paper

One of the many million reasons why I love having a little four-year-old around, is discovering her drawings scattered all over the house.  Yes, I grumble as I bend over and wonder how much a little one could accumulate so much mess in the little hours she spends getting read for school in the morning.  And then I look closely at what I’ve just picked up, and my heart fills with so much love, I could burst.

Here’s our family portrait, she drew a similar one on her board and as I type this I can see it in the corner of my eye and it makes me smile and really happy – the purest kind, not the superficial kind.

And then here’s one she did of her and her friends:

She also loves to scribble …

And here’s my favourite, some of you may have noticed this drawing on my IG account.

“It’s you mummy!”  She said offering her drawing up to me.

Do you notice, I have heart-shaped pupils?

To her, I’m the most beautiful woman in the world.

And I look at this drawing and you know what, I really am the most beautiful woman in the world, even though most days I really feel like crap and probably look like a bag-lady 😉

What are your small joys?

Does your little one like drawing too?

You are lovely indeed. I see she has a thing for shoes… Each pair a different color. J has a thing for knees. Everyone’s knees are at least the size of their heads, and seem to float upon their stick legs. He’s a bit abstract.

    • Why thank you! 😉 Yes, she definitely has a thing for shoes. We’re doing a city-break over the weekend and plan to do some shopping. I told her she can go shopping using her saved-up money. She said she wants to buy toys. I reminded her that she wanted new shoes, to which she replied “You can pay for my new shoes mummy!”

How considerate of her. Saved up money is only to be used for toys, of course. If my children have taught me anything, it’s that I’m on the hook for all clothing items.

Oh how sweet – heart-meltingly so – and well done you for having heart-shaped pupils 🙂 x #paperypeep

    • It’s lovely isn’t it? These bits of paper really do make me happy!

Oh, this is a beautiful post, it’s made me smile, too. My girl draws us, and she’s recently taken to doing her own little lists of things that have made her happy that day, following on from our family book, and it often includes things like having cuddles with mummy, which I just adore! The very best kind of paper 🙂 Thanks for sharing with #PaperyPeep

    • Thanks Jocelyn! How lovely about the kind of list she makes. Little T has a bit more practicing to do with her writing, but she’s getting there 😉

Super cute! A few years ago I went through the boxes of art work of Mr. T’s that I had saved from over the years… and with his permission, I scanned in as many as I could, and turned them into a photo book! Now his art work is all saved, but not being massively stored. I still have one small container of originals I couldn’t part with, but now he has a book he can pull out and show off (if he ever wants)!

Those heart shaped pupils got me! So adorable. What treasures these little master pieces of art on paper all around your house. I love all things paper and I’m imagining these drawings would make the best cards ever….if you could bear to part with them. Visiting you via “BringBackPaper.”

    • Thank you! I’m definitely going to treasure these drawings for the rest of my life 🙂

  7. What lovely drawings – love the family one and the heart-shaped pupils on the drawing of you. Such precious moments 🙂

  8. Jenny @ Let's Talk Mommy

I love when the kids start drawing and getting creative on paper. My two still are at the scribble age but I love the drawing and coloring age. Lovely creations. Thank you so much for linking up to Share With Me. #sharewithme

    • Soon they’ll be drawing and painting loads of pictures too. Our kitchen wall is full of T’s drawings/paintings. It’s a bit messy, but I love it 🙂 x
