T’s First Day at Playschool

What’s the story behind this photo?  This is my three-year-old holding her Doc McStuffin lunch box all set to go to Play School. (Photo taken this morning)

Today is T’s first day at play school.  This is actually our second try.  When she was about two plus, she already started going until a boy pushed her.  It was nothing really.  Just a small incident and something I know that happens a lot in play school and to all children.  But since then, she absolutely refused to go.  Now that she’s three, she’s suddenly one of the “older kids”, so we’re trying again.  We stopped by her best friend’s house who lives near the play school, and they walked inside together.

It’s really not like it’s her first time.  She knows and is friends with some of the kids there and is also familiar with the staff who are all lovely.  As expected, she cried when I left.  But no sooner had I left, the one in charge came out and said that T stopped crying!  Before I left one of the mom’s said to me “Don’t worry, they are all experts in distraction here” and true enough, T was distracted.

I’m wondering now what to do.  Shall I go back to bed especially since I woke up at three a.m. and couldn’t go back to sleep?  Maybe, I should catch up with my emails?  But you know what I really want to do?  Stare at empty space in silence.  So excuse me while I just do that … I miss her though.  I know … silly me.

This post is linked-up with Podcast’s What’s the Story.

Oh boy! I can’t remember the last time I had a silent room to stare at…I would definitely take that choice!

  2. T’s outfit and lunchbox are awesome. 😀 I hope you get to rest up, since you were awake in the middle of the night!

    • Thanks! Been trying to have early nights, no success there though. At least T’s cough is better and she was able to go to play school.

  3. Charly Dove

What a wonderful post, T looks fabulous walking along looking adorable with her lunchbox. I hope it wasn’t too traumatic for you today and you got some sleep. We don’t want them to cry do we but equally we don’t want them to leave either! I hope T had a good day? Thank you so much for sharing with #whatsthestory

    • Yes, she had a wonderful time thanks. We decided to let her go two mornings a week only and see what happens. If she’s happy to stay, then she can start going two whole days a week =) Does Pod go to playschool or playgroup yet?

Tammy, what’s your baon? you and Kabutz have the same chucks! (your mum’s gift)

    • I had jam sandwich, squash (a drink), fruit, yoghurt, and I sneaked in a chocolate bar when mum wasn’t looking!

  5. The Vanilla Housewife

This made me remember my son’s first day at school (he is now 8 years old), the next thing you’ll know, they are already in grade school 🙂

    • I know! We were just discussing this with some friends today… Sigh. Hey, thanks for dropping by! =) Our aim btw, is for T to go to high school back home =)
