I think Winter is slowly inching its way in, nudging Autumn on the side. The air is chiller now and our windows are always framed in frost. It does paint a pretty picture though, especially when you have a lovely view of the country outside.
And since it’s the first week of November, I’ve been seeing a lot of posts about Christmas already. I must confess, I do love Christmas and everything that goes with it. At the moment though, I’m thinking, this is happening way too soon as if someone has pressed the fast-forward button. I need it to slow down just a little bit. While I love decorating the house up in lovely Christmas lights and all that, I shudder at the thought of the madness that happens up till the 25th of December.

I’ve also been busy raking leaves in our garden. I go out bundled up in my thick coat and wellies, complete with wooly hat, gloves and a scarf. After raking for some time, I find myself peeling off the layers. Raking makes good exercise. I’m glad I talked my husband out of buying good rakes instead of a leaf-vac, so far, the novelty hasn’t worn off yet.

In other news, we’ve finally managed to book tickets to see Matilda in London this December. This was actually included in my summer bucket list but we didn’t get around to going. I’m glad we’re finally going to see the show since I’ve only heard great reviews about it. Also, we’ve never used AirBnb before, but decided to give it a try for our night’s stay in the capital. Hopefully it will be a good experience for us. Now all we have to do is book Doc into a kennel and we’re all good.

I’ve been listening a lot to Rickie Lee Jones again, and I can’t seem to get the song “Autumn Leaves” off my head. I love, love, love the bass in the this song. I know, not exactly cheerful is it? I need one that will make me think of sunshine and warmth.
What about you?
Are you ready for winter/Christmas?
Lucky you going to see Matilda, it looks like a fab show!
Alana x
We’re definitely excited! 🙂
Christmas is def everywhere now…. Halloween ended at here is Christmas… I agree… even though I am at fault of this haha…. sometimes we need things to slow down. Maybe enjoy the in between times.
That is so true 🙂
November seems to have sprung up on me this year! I’m so not ready!
Same here. I wanted October to last just a little bit longer.
They had christmas stuff out before halloween was over around here!
Same here. I had to avert my eyes!
LOL, I’m still not fully ready to let go of summer 😉 There are some great things to look forward to, but no…I’m not ready.
I’ve let go of summer very reluctantly. I’m trying to hold on to Autumn just a little bit longer 😉
I love the winter! I feel like I rush through fall just to get to the holiday season.
Apart from Christmas, I’m not a big fan of winter 🙁
It definitely feels like winter is coming!
Sigh.
I hate being cold, it has turned so cold this week too. I love Christmas and getting my tree up so we have bright lights on dark Winter nights, it is after Christmas I get down when the bright lights get packed away 🙁

Same here. I don’t like January. Thank goodness February is a short month and down here in Cornwall, Spring happens early 🙂
I also saw all the shops with Christmas gifts and the Christmas market in the city center 🙂 I feel like it’s a bit soon but, on the other hand, now that the night comes earlier, it’s nice to see some colors on the street x
That is so true.
I found out that Charlie and the chocolate factory finished its run next year so need to get a wriggle on a book tickets. Matilda is on my list too

Really? Oh no, must schedule that one too. Thanks for the heads-up!
I love the bass too and her voice is fantastic but you are right – it is a bit depressing. I think I need something a bit more jazzy to get me through Autumn and Winter. Enjoy Matilda!

Definitely! Thank you 🙂
I love Christmas, but like you, I want to enjoy it nearer the time. I am loving autumn. I’m a crafter, so I do get round it by making Christmassy bits and pieces earlier. I think its called having your cake and eating it! Decorations never go up till December. Nor mince pies eaten, but I can’t escape that if I want to give handmade gifts, I have to start before December.
We’ve been busy raking leaves too, although the children decided to scatter the piles. Far more fun, but still a mess!

I’m a big fan of your crafts. Wish I could do what you do too. I think the winter months are perfect for crafting 🙂
I used Air BNB with a friend on a trip to Chicago and we had a great experience! I hope yours is just as good!
I hope so too! 🙂
Winter has definitely arrived here in Ireland too, all the holly bushes have berries on them and robins have been following me and mine around. I must admit, I haven’t see many Christmas ads yet, so disappointing, usually they’re in full swing by now.
Really? They are in full swing over here.
I’ve not used Air BnB either but everyone I know who has raves about it so think you should be ok, hope it goes well! Matilda is meant to be brill! X
Thank you! 🙂
Congrats on getting ready to go to London, How exciting!!! I’m so ready for Christmas too, lol.
Not ready for Christmas yet, but I’m sure I’ll get in the spirit soon! 😉
I would love to see Matilda! Have fun!

Winter is so trying to find it’s way to NY although “Real Fall” has appeared and even want to be Spring days.. BUT if you go into stores you would think it’s the week before Christmas or something. I’m not ready for Winter I just want to enjoy Fall slowly but seems no chance in that! lol
Oh dear, winters in NY is bad! Hopefully you guys won’t have it that bad this year.
I can’t believe Christmas is only a few weeks away. Looking forward to it!

It’s happening way too fast! Story of my life 😉
So many people I know use Air BnB and they have all had amazing times, not one single bad report!

I’m thinking things need to slow down a little bit too. We just got back from holidays and it was amazing how abroad there was no sign of Christmas in shops and yet as soon as we stepped back in the UK it was everywhere! Quite frightening to see. This year has gone way too fast. x

Welcome back! I’ve been enjoying your photos on Instagram 🙂
Winter has definitely arrived here. We’ve had ice on the cars, and it’s so cold. I do like Christmas, and I can find myself getting into it early this year. I think it’s because I need something to cheer me up in the cold weather

I’m trying to get into the Christmas spirit. Hopefully it will hit me soon 😉
We don’t have change in the seasons over here. It’s either super hot, burning hot, or regular hot. Lol. So, in approach for winter, there’s not much planning. I will say that I enjoyed this post and plan to look up the artist you recommended. We’re always up for new music. Hope you concert goes well 🙂
Sounds like home to me! I do miss the heat 🙂
Each year “Christmas” seems to pop up earlier and earlier. Christmas was in the Target aisles before Halloween candy had been passed out! Thanks for your ramblings… Great read!
Thank you!
As soon as November 1st comes im ready for Christmas movies and stories if we didn’t start then, then we would miss out 🙂

I have an agreement with my husband, I’m only allowed to start decorating on the 1st of December. Can’t wait!
I agree. Everything is starting earlier these days. They had Christmas stuff out before Halloween and I even saw some Valentines day items already! Matilda sounds wonderful! I do hope you share about the show.
Will definitely do that, thank you!
I tried to leave a comment yesterday, but it seems that I may have closed the window before it actually posted…. I’m trying again! I appreciate your ramblings. I can’t believe it’s almost Christmas again, and was saddened that I went to Target on Halloween day to get pumpkin cutting knives and there was none to be seen. Only Christmas everywhere 🙁 Good luck with the upcoming festivities!
Thank you! Hopefully you got those cutting knives you were looking for somewhere else 🙂
I am not ready for Winter or the holidays quite yet. This Fall has gone by way too fast already. I’m so jealous of your trip to London. I’ve been many years ago, and it is one of my favorite cities ever.
I must admit, I love the Christmas prep in the stores! (I know, lots of eye rolls are coming my way…) It just gets me excited to make some magic for my littles and other loved ones every year.
Winter is definitely making an appearance. I think I am all ready for Christmas now. I have made an effort to be more organised this year and feel much more ready to welcome the festive season 🙂 x
