I knew when we first moved in our new home that it would be colder than in our old house where it was always snug and cozy. In the winter, friends who’d visit would always comment on how warm our house was as soon as they entered. We lived in a terraced house back then, that’s why. Now we live in a detached house with no neighbours. In spite the central heating, and two fires in the kitchen and living room, I’m still cold all the bloody time. To be fair though, both fires aren’t on all the time. We only put them on when we’re using the rooms. What’s the point in wasting the fire if there isn’t anyone in? Sometimes I think we only heat the rooms for our pets. Thank goodness for wooly socks. I love them.
In spite the cold, T still complains that she’s feeling warm. What’s it with these kids? When it’s cold, they complain about being warm. I can understand when they’re running around like loonies, of course all that energy burnt will keep them warm, but at night? Apparently, T isn’t the only one, a few of my mum friends commented that their little ones are exactly the same.
And speaking of the cold, I’m noticing mold have started to show up in some of our walls and ceilings. I try to wipe them off as soon as I notice them, but before long, they are there again. Sigh.

I think I’m slowly getting into the Christmas spirit. We’re going away in the first weekend of December, so my husband said that it would be okay to start decorating this weekend. Normally, I’d do the dance of joy, but he was surprised when all he got was an “Oh okay”.
I’m hoping to be able to drop by our favourite garden centre after T’s ballet on Saturday. They have a fabulous Christmas display and items. I’m sure that will do the trick.
What about you?
Any exciting plans this week?
I hate the cold so luckily our house being a new build is quite warm. I must get in the Christmas shopping mood, not many more weeks now. x

It gets really nice and toasty though when all our fires are on 🙂 I did most of my Christmas shopping this morning. Phew. Just a few more bits to go 🙂
I think the trick is to keep moving. Our house is the same. Much better than when we first moved in. The condensation used to freeze on the inside of the windows, the first winter. We have improved the place enormously, but I wish our ceilings were higher so we could have installed under floor heating.
Glad you are gradually getting in the Christmas mood. Maybe the decorating this weekend will help. #wotw

We just moved in, don’t really have the budget at the moment to improve things. Hopefully soon! 🙂
I hate the cold weather…My girls however will run about in t-shirts and say they are too hot…..I think I need to do a bit of running about to see if I can warm up. hehehe
Have fun decorating for Christmas.

That’s a fab idea. I think I might just do some running around too 😉
Honestly, I hate feeling the cold. If I get chilly in the house I run and down the stairs 5 times or do 10 mins of cleaning and I’ve normally warmed up! Plans this weekend? Hopefully start the Xmas shopping!
I actually feel warm too when I’m doing chores 😉 Did some shopping this morning, almost done with my list! x
My kids are always warm, too, no matter the weather. I hate feeling chilly, must be hard having been used to such a cosy house before. Hope you enjoy Christmas decorating the house x Thanks for sharing with #WotW

Actually when both fires are on, it’s lovely and toasty too 🙂
It’s funny, when I was a kid I would run around in knee-high snow wearing nothing more than a dress and knitted pancho. So, maybe it’s not that we get colder as we get older, it’s just that we get wiser. 😉 #WotW
That makes so much sense 😉
Everything is so full steam ahead with Christmas now isn’t it. I am the same as the children – am hot still when most are cold.

Lucky you! Yep, it’s all about Christmas now whether I like it or not 😉 x
Our house is the opposite. It’s a bungalow with a huge bay window facing the sun and it is always so hot. Great, because it saves us a fortune in heating!
You guys are lucky! We do have a conservatory and in the summer, it’s a sun-trap. The cat of course, loves it there. Not in the winter though, too cold 🙂
My 17 year old lives in shorts all year round. He turns the radiator in his room off and has the window open wide all evening. Queen Elsa would find it cold in there yet he insists it is not cold!

I wish I was more like your 17-year old. I’m always cold!
I don’t mind the cold as-long as it’s not raining!! That’s the worst. We are off to see Santa at our local Hamleys 2mo. Good luck at the garden centre x

Thanks! Hope you enjoyed your trip to see Santa 🙂
Ours is a cold one too, I think being amongst open fields and no surrounding houses like yours, doesn’t help. I’ve always got the open fires burning away now.
Have fun getting your Christmas decs up and hope you have a nice little break away too 🙂 x
Oooh, love an open fire!
Im always cold.. and in the winter will have the heating on full blast .. my other half is another matter.. she had high blood pressure and keeps turning it down.. we are still to find a happy medium
My husband and daughter are never really cold. It’s just me! x
Nothing exciting planned this week. It is freezing at the moment.

We drove off to T’s ballet and it was 3c! To think it was late morning already. Brrr.
Hi Dean, there is nothing worse than feeling cold all the time. Our house is brilliant for staying reasonably cool in the summer, but that also seems to apply to the winter too. Since putting in a wood burning stove I have barely felt the cold. At the moment we are only lighting it in the evening, as it warms the house so much it stays warm through the day. It won’t be long before we will keep it lit all day. There is nothing worse than feeling the cold.
We won’t be putting up our Christmas decs for a couple of weeks. I am sure once you start putting them up you’ll feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

I’m actually sleepy all the time when it’s cold. I just want to hide under the duvet and doze off.
I am always cold in our house. I like to be warm so I layer up the clothes until I can not move 🙁 I do like warmer weather ..

I’m the same. I even wear a cardi in bed! 😉
I think being cold can really effect how we are feeling. My kids don’t seem to feel it though, in fact one is still dressing like it’s summer. Hope you get in the Christmas spirit soon

We live in a terrace and I am lucky that it is really warm (apart from the extension) – I would love to have real fires though, that is my request for when we move!
My kids are the same, youngest still asks to have the window open and the other night my eldest couldn’t sleep so she came in our bed for abit while I wrote out some blog posts and she asked me to put the fan on.

I know exactly how you feel my old house was so cold I was wearing my coat to move around with the heating on.
Anna-Maria recently posted…Bidvine//Review
I haven’t been wearing a coat inside the house… yet 😉
My two never seem to be cold either, I’m usually the one in the woolly jumper and fluffy socks. Hope you manage to get in to the festive spirit soon. #WotW
