Being a Dad is … (A Belated Father’s Day Post)

… wearing your daughter’s straw hat (hoping by doing this, it goes back in shape again) while busy with marking, (because it was squashed when one of her friends came over for a play date).

The same hat you bought for her because it reminded you of the one you got her in France when we went on holiday there a couple of years ago, which we probably ended up leaving behind in a cab in Manila last year.

The little things count too …

Here’s wishing a belated happy Father’s Day to all Dads all over including my husband and dad too.

And also to the men who are like dads to others as well, since we all know having the same DNA doesn’t automatically make you a dad, when you already are in their hearts as well as yours.

Hope you all lovely folks had a good one!

Ours was spent getting drenched in the rain, and getting disappointed because of a cancelled school talent show where T was supposed to play the cello with her music class.

How was yours?

We had a lovely family day at home. It wasn’t very exciting but it was nice!

    • You guys are so lucky to have had good weather yesterday. Our was just really bad 🙁

    • A day at the pool, sounds fun! Belated Happy Father’s Day Scott! 🙂

  2. I managed to speak to my dad on the phone yesterday which is a bit of a rarity but nice to do so x

    • I feel bad about not phoning my dad since it was a busy Sunday. I did send him a message though. Must phone soon! 🙂

  3. I wish I spend it with my dad but he doesn’t live in the UK. He received a surprise present via post and we spent some family time on Skype 🙂

    • That is sweet. I spend a lot of my time with my family on Skype too 🙂

Ahhh my dad has passed away and we had a very poor relationship so Father’s day has been my enemy for years, but NOW I get to see my husband with our children and that makes the day for me! H x

Ah thats lovely and so true that DNA doesn’t make you a dad. Some of the best dads I know are step dads. It was my birthday too 🙂 x

    • Yes, you’re right. It’s also good to celebrate the little things 🙂

It really is those little things that make a big difference isn’t it. We had a very low key Father’s Day as Daddy had a hang over. We forgave him as he doesn’t do it very often

Some of the best dads aren’t blood, father figures come in all shapes and sizes these days, extended families and friends. I was lucky enough to spend the day with my daddy. My mummy daddy is in heaven xx

    • My older brother isn’t a dad, but he is like a dad to his nephews and nieces 😉

The little things really do count don’t they. My eldest son is always so content just with his Dad being home from work and knowing that he’s there 🙂

How lovely, it really is the little things that count in life. They also seem to be the things we take for granted without realising. x
