Oops, I did it again (A Love Story)

I knew something was up when they locked me in the kitchen.  I could hear laughter and excitement in the living room and waited patiently till I could come in and join them.

And when I was allowed in the room, I saw the most beautiful sight I have ever seen in the whole of my doggy life.  I think this is what humans would call love at first sight…

I tried to be cool, nonchalant even.  I didn’t want them to know how I felt.  But my heart was pounding so hard every time I passed it and breathed in its lovely pine-tree smell.

So I wanted to do something special, or wear something “nice” that would impress that beautiful sight.  I remembered my little human kindly gave me one of her wooly hats that had a hole in it.  So I put it on, but I think I tugged on it too hard and my head went through it.

“Oh no!”  I ruined it and struggled to get the blimming thing off my head till I heard my humans say – “Look, Doc has is wearing a winter scarf.  How lovely!”

And so I was pleased with myself and thought, this will have to do.  Surely, the lovely tree will be impressed. Now all I had to do was wait for that golden opportunity when I was alone with my beloved.

Then it happened, my human and her mum were having lunch in the kitchen.  I crept silently in the room and admired her from afar.  And when I gathered the courage to come up close to her to declare my undying love and devotion … I got distracted by the many different lovely looking things hanging all over the love of my life.  Her accessories were enchanting!

“Well hello, there”  I began … but got distracted again by the different colours and before I knew what I was doing, my mouth opened and I ate one.

It was crunchy.

Crunch, crunch, crunch.

And before I could stop myself, I grabbed another one from the tree.

It was crunchy.

crunch, crunch, crunch.

And before I could get another one in my mouth I heard a very loud and cross voice – Doc!!!  It was my human’s mum and before I could even apologise to my sweetheart, I was banished from the living room.

I’m heartbroken.

They won’t let me near my love anymore.

I don’t think I’m going to have a Merry Christmas after all.

Do you think my darling will forgive me for eating one of her accessories?

We haven’t put the tree up this year. I know Mishmash would climb it and no doubt totally wreck it.

    • Oh my goodness! I forgot about the blimming cat! She hasn’t been home again and hasn’t seen the tree… Oh dear.

        • Another one to worry about, I bet she’ll love the red baubles! Can’t wait to see a photo of your tree, I still remember last year’s tree. Try not to fall off the stairs this time 😉

Oh Doc!! You will have a Merry Christmas and with any luck the love of your life will be back again next year.

Thank you so much for joining in with Animal Tales 🙂

  3. What is it about dogs eating forbidden items? Our little dog Lady devoured an entire large packet of Arnott’s Cream Biscuits. I knew there was going to be trouble when I had to ask my husband to buy another packet. Lady spent the night outside gazing at the stars and the back door. I am really surprised all those biscuits didn’t make her sick and I could say the same for you Doc eating those baubles. They’re surely not part of a dog’s healthy eating plan!! If you want to get a second chance, I’d mention the cat who climbed up the Christmas tree and knocked the whole thing down as well as tangling up the tinsel.

    • A whole packet and yet she didn’t even get sick? What a dog! 😉 … I’m afraid as much as Doc would love to blame Boots, she hasn’t been home since we’ve put up the tree last Saturday! I’m sure she too will be mesmerised by the tree, especially the red baubles! Btw, Doc didn’t eat the baubles. Forget to mention that what he ate were these lovely decorations we found made of straw at the shop. And they were new! Oh well.

      • Doc! You are lucky you weren’t sent to outer Siberia for that crime. You could have talked to Lady through the prison bars xx Rowena

  4. Kate @ Did That Just Happen?

Mom came home the other day and one of the dogs had unwrapped one of the presents! My dog couldn’t care less, I even have a bag of homemade Christmas candy under the tree and Shorty is like “whatever”! LOL

    • The funny thing is, we have a few Christmas decorations made of chocolate and candy canes. There was one that was within his reach (we’ve moved it now), but he pounced on the little bell and star made of straw. He is next to me, as I type this, gazing forlornly at the Christmas tree. He really looks love-sick. Poor Doc.

Oh Doc…I’m sort of relieved (pardon the pun) that this story didn’t go the way I was expecting! 😉 Don’t eat the baubles though lovely boy or your sweetheart will be getting a restraining order!

Hope Boots comes home again soon x

    • But they look so lovely. Will try not to do it again – Doc. ps. Boots I think has packed up again.
