What Our Pets think of our New Home

Even our pets love their new home.  We may not have the coast at our doorstep, what we have instead are farm land around us, although to be fair, my husband pointed out the sea from our back door.  Yes, we have sea-views, though to be honest, they really look more like horizon views 😉

However, we do have a massive garden.  Well, I guess, depends on what “huge” is for you.  Let’s just say our garden is big enough for Doc to have a run-around and get enough exercise without having to walk him.

We have a front-garden where little T likes to pitch up her tents and DIY tepees, where they usually play.  There’s a tiny “meadow” which we plan to let the grass grow a bit to encourage more wild-flowers to grow.   And where Doc is usually found rooting around.

There’s also a tiny patch of land behind that small outdoor building (more like a shed really).  And a back-garden that isn’t big either.  The biggest part is on the side of the house…

It suddenly dawned on me, when searching for photos for this post, I don’t have much recent photos of Doc.

As for Boots, I’m happy to share that she’s back to being an outdoor cat.

She loves our new home.  She can come and go as she pleases.  We don’t have a cat-flap but we leave the boot room window open for her.

Spot the cat …

It’s funny.  She has all that ground and tress to explore, but most days you’ll find her inside the house You’ll either find her in the conservatory or in little T’s room.  She has claimed her bed as her own.

Boots has her own blanket on the foot of T’s bed.  As much as I’d love to share that Boots and Doc are now best-friends, sadly that isn’t the case.  Let’s just say she tolerates him more now.

And of course, one of the reasons why I love our house and its location is that there is no crazy-cat woman in the area 😉  Little Boots is safe.

Are your pets best-friends?

Do you have a cat?  Where does it sleep?

glad you’re settling in well and that the cat and dog like their new home

  2. Erica Price

Glad Boots likes her new home. I’ve always found that animals adapt quite well to new places, although I’ve generally been moving somewhere bigger so there is more space to roam.

    • I’m really happy that both our pets are loving our new home. Was worried that Boots might roam again. I’m sure she will, but at least it looks like she knows where her home is 🙂

So pleased you got away from crazy cat woman – she sounded truly weird! Garden looks fab, and the pets looks well settled in already. Really enjoying your new home posts 🙂

    • Thank you! She was a bit weird, wasn’t she? The garden is still looking a bit wild, we have plans, but all that will have to wait in the summer 🙂

    • Thank you. We’re hoping more wildflowers will grow in our little meadow 🙂

    • Same here with Boots, though she likes to sleep on T’s bed rather than ours, although you’ll also find her on our bed during the day.

    • It’s Boots who claims other people’s beds. Only Doc’s bed is safe from her 😉

    • I can imagine how difficult it must be to find a house with a garden in London…Then again, you’ve got really lovely parks 🙂

  5. Dean your new place looks amazing.. i saw a facebook post were you have fresh wildflowers in your garden!! lucky you x great to see the animals have settled in too x

i’d love to have a pet but I live in a flat so it wouldn’t be fair, plus I am out so often x

    • A cat is actually a good pet for busy folks. They tend to take care of themselves as long as you leave food for them before you go out 😉

  7. Aaaahhh how cute. I love animal’s. I currently have two rescue dogs and they love to run around the garden.

    • Same here… Now that we have the space, maybe it’s time to get another dog… But I don’t think Boots will be pleased though.

Your garden looks amazing! You and you’re pets are so lucky! Like so many in Paris we live in an apartment, but it means we have lots of walks and trips to the park.

    • I think I’d trade my garden for an apartment in Paris 😉 x

Cats make me laugh. They behave like adults I think. Our neighbour cats loves our garden.

The garden looks fabulous I’m not surprised Boots and Doc love it – and T too of course. Even if Boots has claimed her place indoors. Love the sound of the wildflower garden ☺️. Xx

What a adorable pets 🙂 I don’t have any pets, may I will when I am older and when the kids are grown up but not right now.

  12. Hi Dean, your garden sounds lovely and perfect for pets. I love that you leave the boot room window open for Boots, she really is going to think she’s something special (which of course she is!).

Our cats sleep outside or in the shed as they were once feral, and probably wouldn’t appreciate being inside. They have several favourite spots depending on the weather and there is no way we could mix the dogs and the cats, so we’ve made part of the garden and back balcony a dog free zone.

    • And I love how you partitioned the garden to accommodate all your pets! :)xx

  13. The garden is huge and beautiful. I bet you guys are going to spend a lot of time there

It’s great that your pets have settled in well to your new home. How lovely to have a great, big garden too 🙂

  15. Kerry Norris

Cuties. Glad they are settling in. We have a dog and he is a huge part of our family too x

    • Pets are just part of our families, aren’t they? It’s amazing how much we include them when making decisions 😉

  16. Rosie @greenrosielife

I love all the space you now have and Doc must be so happy to be able to run around in the garden. It’s lovely to see Boots back outside again but how strange she now prefers to be inside, maybe it is because Doc has claimed the garden?. Saari tends to not have much to do with the indoor cats but has a bad habit of “play-chasing” the outdoor ones … but if they sneak in as Firkin often does then she ignores him! #AnimalTales
PS – love the idea of the meadow – doing just that is part of a lawn post I have forming in my head!

    • The “meadow” is really just a small part of our side-lawn. But yes, we’re hoping this would encourage more wild flowers to grow 🙂 x
