Inanimate Objects

Nothing is inanimate, what is the rest is our interpretation.

A glass dove.

A Victorian rocking horse.

A stack of books.

He had insisted that inanimate objects couldn’t have malignant motivations, but Emma had extensive proof to the contrary. – Lauren Willig, The Garden Intrigue.

I like going around the house taking photos of anything that catches my eye.

Do you do this too?

    • It’s an old heirloom from my husband’s side of the family 🙂

  1. Beth @ Twinderelmo

It’s easy to forget what simple beauty we have around the place. You get so used to seeing them you can often forget how cool they are!

    • They are ornaments from the old house, where we had a “by the seaside theme”… Didn’t have the heart to chuck them out, even though we haven’t carried out that theme in the new house 🙂

  2. You certainly have an eye for these things. I’m pretty sure if I photographed my curtain pole it would look rubbish! I love your photos.

  3. Ickle Pickle

I don’t really – my house is full of children and clutter and I struggle to find a calm, clear spot!! Lovely photos. Kaz x

    • Thanks. Oh my house is cluttered too. That’s why I only take close-up photos of objects 😉

  4. Laura @dearbearandbeany

I love the glass dove. We have lots of little accessories dotted around the house, my husband thinks I’m mad. But I like having little quirky bits and bobs where you wouldn’t except them to be x

    • Same here. Have to make sure though that the kids won’t reach it 😉

    • Thanks. Dobbin, the rocking horse is a fave. Has been in my husband’s family for about four decades now… or is it 5? Keep forgetting. x

    • T still loves Dobbin. He’s a big one and has been in my husband’s family for ages!

  5. Fashion and Style Police

I have fallen in love with photography recently. I take a lot of pictures in the house now.

    • We didn’t have the room in the old house, but Dobbin has been in the family for ages. I guess he goes where we go 😉

  6. Fi Ni Neachtain

It’s amazing how we can have such love for certain things in our home. The Victorian rocking horse you have looks beautiful.

  7. Stephanie myers

You have such lovely things, I love the nautical bits you have especially the lighthouse, they would look fab in my bathroom!
